Who I Am

Hello, my name is Georgia Turvey and I am a Fashion Marketing and Branding graduate from Nottingham Trent University, where I have cultivated my marketing abilities and gained experience in an industry internship.

Throughout my journey as a student, I have acquired a great deal of knowledge in the marketing and branding space and looking back on my first-year work, my growth becomes evident. I have refined my technique of analysis in research projects, questioning and comparing sources to create a full picture of consumer trends and behaviour. I have built an understanding of marketing models that aid me when creating strategies. This was evidenced by my Marketing Strategy Report for Relic Vintage, being placed in the top three for the Live Brief competition, leading the brand to implement some of my ideas. I have gained expertise in using Adobe, something that was foreign to me when I started, and am now creating cohesive, imaginative visuals that complement the subject matter of my writing. But, most of all, I have flourished as a young professional, becoming confident in myself and my abilities.

Working in a retail environment for 2 years, I am very comfortable meeting new people, giving me exceptional interpersonal skills, though I have always been a naturally friendly, confident person. This was shown most obviously in my placement with the second-hand retailer Relic Vintage when I approached strangers as part of a TikTok campaign. In those three days, I built resilience and the result was a viral video that boosted the brand’s online presence immensely. Here, I refined my skills in all types of social media content creation, from written to visual injecting some personality into a previously lacklustre online presence. The transferrable skills and experience acquired here will serve me well in my future positions, making me a dependable marketeer.

I have always been extremely confident in my writing abilities. This has only accelerated with my university projects. I am completely comfortable writing, whether creatively, persuasively, or academically, and I am eager to apply this to a marketing setting. My favourite projects were based on the analysis of research, the most prominent being my ‘Stage One’ report where I assessed Generation Z females and their emotional connection to fast fashion. This work was praised for its sophisticated analysis and acted as a springboard for later projects.

Having a fashion designer turned art teacher as a mother means I have always been artistic. I am constantly finding new perspectives and inspiration from what is around me and am an asset to creative sessions. This passion has been nurtured at university giving me the know-how to bring a brand to life digitally. This is evidenced in my “Stage Two” report where I created a sustainable streetwear brand ‘Sago Palm’, complete with branding, a hand-drawn, digitally modified logo and mock-ups with cohesive imagery.

I have acquired a great deal of understanding at university and cannot wait to get stuck into some real work and see the theories and techniques I have learnt about come to life. I hope upon reading this letter and reviewing my CV you will recognise my potential. I would be delighted to hear from you and can be available for an interview at any time.
